Ducatoon graduate Brilliant Lad made a winning return to racing on Bendigo Cup day at what was his first start since January.

The three-year-old by Canny Lad was purchased by trainer Rick Hore-Lacy - the trainer of his Golden Slipper winning sire - at the 2004 Adelaide Magic Millions for $68,000.

Partnered by in form hoop Noel Callow, Brilliant Lad sat behind the pace set by Young Tycoon and race favourite Kiltanon before careering away in the straight to a two length victory.  He stopped the clock at 58.62 for the 1000 metre journey.

Brilliant Lad has now won two of his four starts and is well on the way to repaying his purchase price with $21,200 in the bank.

Ducatoon will offer a Falvelon half-sister to Brilliant Lad at the 2006 Adelaide Magic Millions.
